About the appointment

Introduction

We are looking to recruit a Non-Executive Director role to join the Devon and Cornwall Police Executive with a focus in Inclusion and Race Equality.  The role will report to the Chief Constable and provide challenge and support to the Executive in setting the strategic direction and culture that builds public and organisational trust. The Executive ensure the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and the delivery of a professional, effective, and efficient policing service for the communities of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The purpose of establishing the role of Non-Executive Director for Inclusion and Race Equality is to help address the lack of diversity in our governance structure and encourage applicants to bring their lived experience of minority ethnic communities to our Executive.  The role is intended to lead our efforts to be proactive in tackling racial disparities in policing, not exacerbate racial disparities that may exist elsewhere in society and to be constantly alert to issues of race and racism. The Executive want to address the legitimate concerns and rebuild the confidence of our minority ethnic communities in our police service.
