We are seeking a Non-executive Director with senior clinical expertise to join The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust
The opportunity
NHS England has a specific role in appointing and supporting NHS trust chairs and non-executives. We are looking for a Non-executive Director (NED) at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) who will also be responsible for chairing the Trust’s Quality and Safety Committee which is required to provide assurance to the Trust Board that there are robust processes in place for the effective management of patient safety and quality governance across the Trust supporting the organisation to deliver its strategic objectives relating to the provision of high-quality care. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of local services contributing to the shared responsibility for improving the health of PAHT’s population by sharing your clinical talents and expertise to help transform the hospital deepening the collaborative working essential to make a positive difference to their local community.
Ideally, the successful candidate will take on the role of the NED maternity safety champion, assuming a senior advocacy role for patient safety and feedback, working closely with the Trust’s safety champions and attending their bimonthly meetings. Their role will be to oversee and ensure that women’s voices are truly heard by the maternity service via the active and meaningful involvement of the Maternity Voices Partnership, amongst other measures.
Person Specification
You will need to have a genuine commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services.
- You will have senior level clinical experience gained in either a medical, nursing or allied discipline with a strong service delivery background.
You will need to be able to demonstrate you can use your experience to:
- Work alongside other non-executives and executive colleagues as an equal member of the board
- Bring independence, external perspectives, skills and challenge to strategy development
- Hold the executive to account by providing purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge Shape and actively support a healthy culture for the trust
