- Remuneration
- £250 per day (unless you already receive a salary for full-time work paid from public funds in which case there is no additional payment). Remuneration is subject to deductions of tax and National Insurance contributions at source. The role is not pensionable. In some circumstances your remuneration may be abated if you receive a public service pension. You will need to seek advice from your pension provider about this. Reasonable standard travel expenses will be payable.

Vacancy Description
Key Responsibilities:
As a Board member of the YJB you will:
- Provide independent advice, monitoring and scrutiny of, the youth justice system;
- Support the maintenance of a strong working relationship between the YJB and its partner organisations,
- Scrutinise and challenge the YJB executive; and
- Be an effective ambassador for the YJB in promoting a distinct youth justice system across England and Wales.
Person Specification
Essential criteria
- A strong commitment to cutting crime, helping young people achieve their potential and helping children turn their backs on crime;
- A strong commitment to equality of opportunity and a clear understanding of the factors – including family and parenting – that can transform the lives of young people engaged in, or at risk of engaging in, criminality;
- A strong commitment to recognising the value of policing, enforcement and the criminal justice system in cutting crime and protecting young people;
- Proven ability to drive forward reform, to challenge and be innovative in your approach;
- Experience of analysing complex information and making evidenced based, sound judgements which lead to practical and sound recommendations; and
- Experience of/ability to engage and work with a range of diverse stakeholders including those at senior levels, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Additionally, we are also looking for one member to have specific experience of management of secure estates.
