Additional Information

HMP North Sea Camp is a Category D Male Prison accommodating up to 420 prisoners. HMP North Sea Camp is a progressive category D open, rehabilitation prison where prisoners are called residents to help prepare them for life in the outside community. There is great respect by and for prisoners making it a good place to work. The prison has a working farm and extends over a large site which entails lots of walking. Anyone who is appointed and who is registered disabled will undertake a risk assessment so that appropriate support can be put in place for that person. Anyone with mobility issues may need to use their car to get to and from i.e. healthcare. It is very cold outside at the site in winter, but all buildings are warm. Inside every prison, there is an IMB – a group of ordinary members of the public doing an extraordinary job. IMB members are independent, unpaid and work an average of 4 visits per month depending on the needs of the Board and the individual. Members are the eyes and ears of Ministers and monitor the day-to-day life in their local prison to ensure that proper standards of care and decency are maintained. Your background can be as a student, a person of working age or retired. We welcome applications from people over 18 and are particularly keen to hear from those of working age and individuals from black and minority ethnic communities, since these groups are under-represented on the existing Boards. The role is about fairness and decency and is always rewarding, educational and challenging. Please click on www.imb.org.uk to find out how being an IMB member can benefit you.
