NHS England is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Havenhand as Chair of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2026. His remuneration is £47,100 pa. He has not declared any political activity in the last five years.
Vacancy Description
We are looking for an exceptional leader to chair Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS).
This is an unique opportunity to help shape the future of local services by sharing your talents and expertise to help transform the ambulance trust and make a positive difference to your community and across Yorkshire and Humber, and to play an active part in three Integrated Care Systems (Humber and North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire).
YAS covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities. They serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber. YAS strives to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.
YAS has a strong track record of innovation and is now progressing a major transformation programme that includes organisational and cultural development to embed devolved clinical leadership, continuous improvement and provide an efficient and effective model of integrated care. This also aims to enhance the Trust’s work with health and care partners across Yorkshire, adapting to the updated legal and regulatory framework for system collaboration.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who want to use their energy, skills and experience to help drive the delivery of sustainable healthcare services for the people of Yorkshire and Humber and some surrounding areas. Please see the candidate information pack for full details about the role.
We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and appointments made on merit. We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve.
We particularly welcome applications from women, people from the local black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people who we know are under-represented in chair and non-executive roles.
Our recruitment processes are conducted in accordance with the Code of Governance to ensure that they are made on merit after a fair and open process so that the best people, from the widest possible pool of candidates, are appointed.
