An announcement has been made on the outcome of this appointment.

NHS IMPROVEMENT APPOINTMENTS Sir Andrew Morris has been appointed as interim Chair; and Dame Julia Goodfellow as interim Non-Executive Director (NED) of NHS Improvement (NHSI) from 30 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, or until subject to the passage of legislation, Monitor and the NHS Trust Development Authority are legally disestablished, if later. The Chair appointment will involve a time commitment of 2 to 3 days per week for a remuneration of £63,000 per annum. The NED appointment will involve a time commitment of 2 to 3 days per month for a remuneration of £7,883 per annum. In line with the Governance Code on public appointments, the Department consulted the Commissioner for Public Appointments on the direct interim appointments of Sir Andrew Morris and Dame Julia Goodfellow. The Commissioner was content. The interim appointments were to ensure that the NHS Improvement board remained quorate through to 2022 and the establishment of the new NHS England board. The appointments were made on merit and political activity played no part in the decision process. However, in accordance with the Code, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Sir Andrew Morris and Dame Julia Goodfellow have not declared any political activity.
