The Trust provides specialist cancer and blood services for people across Wales through Velindre Cancer Centre (external link) and the Welsh Blood Service (external link). The successful candidate will therefore be required to travel, although a significant number of other meetings and Board related events will be held at their main sites in Nantgarw, Cardiff and Talbot Green. It may be necessary to stay overnight on some occasions.

Vacancy Description
Ability to apply legal knowledge and skills in a strategic board environment;
Ability to offer advice to the Board on a range of issues, which could include corporate, employment and contract law;
Ability to provide advice to the Board on corporate governance including professional regulation;
Ability to oversee the quality of documentation; and
Ability to apply legal expertise to assimilate and interpret complex and unfamiliar information.

Person Specification
An understanding of health issues and priorities in the Trust’s area and the ability to understand the role and work of the Board;
Ability to hold the executives to account for performance whilst maintaining a constructive relationship;
Ability to provide a knowledgeable, impartial and balanced perspective on a range of sensitive and complex issues;
A broad understanding of the information governance requirements required to comply with legislation e.g. Data Protection Act (DPA);
an awareness and understanding of equality and diversity issues, particularly as they relate to the health sector;
