Announcement
An announcement has been made on the outcome of this appointment.
NHS Improvement is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Richard Shaw as Chair of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust from 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2020.
Vacancy Description
S1706
We are looking for an exceptional leader to chair the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH). This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of local services by sharing your talents and expertise to help transform the hospital and make a positive difference to your community.
SASH has been on a journey of transformation over the last five years and because of this strong collaborative approach, the Trust was one of the first Trusts to be rated as “Good” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2014 in all five domains and continues to have one of the best risk profiles published by the CQC. During the Chief Inspector of Hospitals review the CQC commented that: ‘without exception, clinical staff were proud to work for the Trust and spoke very positively about the effective leadership within the trust.’
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who want to use their energy, skills and experience to help drive the delivery of sustainable healthcare services for the people of Surrey and Sussex. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who can apply their experience from different sectors, as well as from health, to this demanding role.
Full details are included in the chair information pack.
We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and appointments made on merit. We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve.
We particularly welcome applications from women, people from the local black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people who we know are under-represented in chair and non-executive roles.
Our recruitment processes are conducted in accordance with the Code of Governance to ensure that they are made on merit after a fair and open process so that the best people, from the widest possible pool of candidates, are appointed.
