An announcement has been made on the outcome of this appointment.

Jane Williams and John Matheson have been appointed as Members of the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration both for three years from 1 September 2017.

The appointments will involve a time commitment of 15 meetings per year. Remuneration for the role will be at a rate of £300 for preparation and attendance at meetings.

These appointments are made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance for Public Appointments. The regulation of public appointments against the requirements of this Code is carried out by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

These appointments are made on merit and political activity played no part in the decision process. However, in accordance with the Code, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Both have not declared any political activity.

Vacancy Description

The Secretary of State for Health is looking to appoint a Member to the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration (DDRB). The DDRB is an independent body with Members playing a key part in making recommendations to Government.

As a Member of the DDRB you will play a key part in assessing the evidence of the Government, organisations representing the NHS and organisations representing NHS doctors and dentists and making annual recommendations to the Government on the remuneration of doctors and dentists.

Person Specification

Applicants will be required to demonstrate they have the ability to think strategically and exercise sound judgement on complex and sensitive issues. They will also need to have the ability to analyse and interpret detailed information, gain respect and keep the confidence of others as well as being able to demonstrate a sound understanding and commitment to public service values.

Additional Information

Remuneration will be £300 per meeting for a time commitment of 15 meetings per year. The DDRB mostly meets on Mondays – every fortnight between September–March with a visits programme that runs from late spring to early summer.

The Secretary of State for Health determines the length of appointment, which may be for up to a maximum of 4 years.
