An announcement has been made on the outcome of this appointment.

NHS Improvement is pleased to announce the appointments of Mr James Birrell from 4 July 2017 to 3 July 2019 and Mrs Julie Gorry from 2 August 2017 to 1 August 2018 as Non-executive Directors of Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. We are recruiting two non-executive directors for Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. This is an exceptional opportunity to share your talents and expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of people in your community.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

You will need to have a genuine commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services.

Post one:

  • Clinical and patient safety expertise gained from medical, nursing, allied disciplines or social care experience at a senior level in an academic, research, regulatory or clinically focused role. As a key member of the Board you will sit on their Quality and Safety Committee.

Post two:

We are also looking for candidates who have gained recent senior experience, at Board or equivalent level, within a large complex organisation in one or more of the following areas:

  • Change management, transformation and business development, especially in a Healthcare setting
  • Corporate experience, with an understanding of high level governance
  • Experience of the implementation of Healthcare strategy at Board level
  • Finance and accounting
  • A legal background
