Following
the conclusion of recruitment for new non-executive members to the board of the
Department of Health and Social Care, Richard Douglas and Steve Rowe have been
appointed for 3 years from 7 March 2024. The appointments are remunerated at a
rate of £15,000 a year for a time commitment of 2 to 3 days per month.
Richard
Douglas will take on the role of Chair of the board’s Audit and Risk Committee
from 1 August 2024, at which point his role will also be remunerated at a rate
of £20,000 a year.
The
appointment of Gerry Murphy as Non-Executive Member and Chair of the board’s
Audit and Risk Committee has been extended from 1 February 2024 until 31 July
2024. The appointment will continue to be remunerated at a rate of £20,000 a
year, for a time commitment of 2 to 3 days per month.
These
appointments are made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance
for Public Appointments. The regulation of public appointments against the
requirements of the Code is carried out by the Commissioner for Public
Appointments.
The
appointments are made on merit and political activity played no part in the
decision process. However, in accordance with the Code, there is a requirement
for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. None of
the appointees have declared any political activity.
